Two more people succumbed to swine flu in Bhopal on Wednesday, taking the death toll in the district to 53, authorities said.
In Sagar, two deaths have been confirmed, while there are no reports of casualties from the H1N1 from Indore district on Wednesday.
Forty people were diagnosed with the deadly flu in Bhopal and 53 fresh samples of suspected patients have been sent for testing. With this, the number of people who have tested positive to the H1N1 in the district has crossed 500 since January 1.
Chief medical and health officer (CMHO), Bhopal, Dr Veena Sinha said the dip in temperature because of rains has led to a marginal increase in the swine flu cases.
Sinha said the administration is hopeful that its efforts and rise in temperature will bring down the number of cases in the coming days.
Till now 79 deaths have been reported from the Indore and 272 people have tested positive for H1N1 virus since January 1, while results of 203 samples are awaited.
