A two-year-old boy was shot at in Chhitapal village, about 35 kilometers from Jabalpur, in Madhya Pradesh on Friday.
The boy, Sriyansh, was outside his house when the incident occurred on Friday night. The bullet got stuck in the boy’s skull, Majholi town inspector Dileep Pandey told HT. The boy was admitted in serious condition at a private hospital after the incident.
A case of attempt to murder has been registered against one Devraj on the complaint of the boy’s family, the town inspector said.
The boy’s grandfather Shivkumar Rajput said a political rivalry led to the incident.
Chandrashekar Rajput, the boy’s father, works as an employment secretary at the village panchayat.
Shivkumar said his son (Chandrashekar) had raised his voice against some irregularities in the employment schemes at the panchayat and lodged a complaint with the police in this regard a few days ago.
Shivkumar has held the post of sarpanch of Chhitapal village panchayat twice in the past.
