Upset with their results in the CBSE Class XII exams, two students — a girl in Bhopal and a boy in Ranchi — committed suicide on Monday.

Nikita Swami, 19, a resident of Tulsi Nagar in Bhopal, jumped off the fifth floor of Vallabh Bhawan, the Madhya Pradesh government secretariat building, as she had failed her exams. She was taken to a private hospital where she was declared brought dead.

Nikita’s father, Shalik Ram Swami is a clerk at Vallabh Bhawan. She, along with her father, had gone there to check her results online in his office.

Elsewhere, in Ranchi, Saurav Banerjee, 18, a student of DAV Hehal, hanged himself as he had scored low marks in the CBSE exams.

Saurav’s brother Sanjay Banerjee found him hanging when he returned home. Family members rushed Saurav to Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) were he was declared brought dead.
