Laxmi Yadav, a specially-abled woman from Bhopal has sought euthanasia after being rejected for a job across the state.

She wrote to Prime Minister Modi, President Pranab Mukherjee, external affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, asking for euthanasia.

In her plea, Laxmi said that despite acquiring an M.Phil and LLM, she has been unable to find a job for herself, and that too when there is 3% reservation for specially-abled people.

“I have asked for euthanasia from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, President Pranab Mukherjee, external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj and CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan that I am unable to find a job for myself despite being so qualified. For the last 10-12 years, I have been trying to get a job but all my efforts have gone in vain,” Laxmi told ANI.

“I am more qualified than a normal person. I am just not able to do practice because everywhere I am told that because I am physically challenged, I won’t be able to work properly, won’t be able to climb up the stairs etc. They are more sure than me that I would not be able to work,” she added.

She added that the Madhya Pradesh government has launched so many schemes but she has not benefitted from either of them.

“I am talking about the private sector -- wherever I have applied. If you don’t give me job, then how would you be able to know about my efficiencies and capabilities,” she said.
