A woman constable of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), who had shot herself with her service revolver at Raja Bhoj Airport on Tuesday, was allegedly being harassed by a senior officer of the Airport Unit of CISF.
The constable, Ritu Kumari (25), had shared her frustration with two women employees of the Airport Authorities of India (AAI), Bhopal who were her good friends.
According to police sources, statements of both women employees will be recorded soon. "In a preliminary investigation, it was found that she was being harassed by a senior officer. She had shared this with two of her friends," said a senior police officer.
"The officer concerned would get the woman constable posted outside his cabin. We will soon record the statement of the constable's friends and the officer can also be quizzed," added the officer.
The police have recorded the statements of at least 25 CISF personnel so far.
The officer said the condition of the woman constable is stable and she is recovering. However, she is not able to speak, as of now.
Superintendent of police (North) Arvind Saxena said the parents of the victim are coming from UP and the reason of her extreme step would be established only after taking the parents' statements.
"We are going through every possible aspect and very soon the reason of her attempt to suicide will be established," said Saxena.
Meanwhile, the duty inspector general (DIG) of CISF, Sanjay Prakash has arrived in the city on Wednesday and has started department inquiry to find out facts behind the incident.
The victim was injured in her stomach and is undergoing treatment at a private hospital. Ritu's duty was scheduled from 2pm. Before joining duty, she went to the armory and got her service revolver issued and shot herself.
