A woman teacher, who hails from Damoh district of Madhya Pradesh, was allegedly gang-raped by a Facebook friend and his three companions in Bhopal. The incident had occurred earlier this year but she didn't complain to the police as she says the act was filmed and she was threatened that the video would be made public.
The complainant, a 24-year-old woman, lives in Damoh, 264 km east of Bhopal. She told the police that she came to know Sandeep Kumar, a youth living in Bhopal, over social networking website, Facebook. They often chatted and became friends. When she came to Bhopal to take an exam, she met him here.
The accused allegedly took her to his friend's place near Chetak Bridge. The complainant says that apparently the water given to her was drugged, as after drinking it, she felt dizzy and became unconscious. She claims that Sandeep and his three friends gang-raped her. The accused told her that the act had been filmed and she would be defamed if she lodged an FIR.
The woman returned to Damoh later. After mulling over the matter for a long time, she decided to report the matter. The complaint was made to the Damoh police, which forwarded it to Bhopal police. Now, an FIR has been registered.
"We have registered a case of gang-rape against four youths and have launched a hunt for them," said a police official at Govindpura police station where the case has been registered. Besides Sandeep, the other accused named are Om Prakash, Anshul and Rohit. The police have begun efforts to arrest the accused.
