A 50-year-old woman died and about seven persons sustained injuries when a four-wheeler hit them near Bhopal railway station on Thursday late night.
The deceased was identified as Punam Bai, a resident of Vidisha district. The injured are Hashim, 20, and Shakil, 18, a resident of Ghoda Nakkas, Kusum, 27, a native of Sagar district, Haribai, 40, from Vidisha, Dilip Dhurve, a resident of Bareli, Seoni district and two others.
The incident occurred near platform number six of the railway station. Police said a speeding Bolero that was coming from the platform side rammed into the road divider and turned turtle.
Some people who were sleeping at the road divider came under the vehicle and sustained serious injuries. They were rushed to Hamidia Hospital, where Punam died.
The driver of the vehicle, however, managed to flee, leaving the vehicle which has been seized.
Police said the vehicle was registered in Rajasthan and they would approach to Rajasthan transport department to get details about the vehicle.
