A 50-year-old woman was allegedly stripped and paraded by half-a-dozen persons who had a dispute with her family in Morena.
The victim was caught when she had gone to the fields, overpowered and stripped of her clothes. The incident occurred at Balalpur village in Morena district on late Saturday evening.

Police said that the victim's family had an old dispute with another group in the same village.

The accused--Vishal Kushwaha, Mukesh, Indal Singh, Diwan Singh, Dharam Singh and Punjab Singh, intercepted the woman when she was returning home after grazing the cattle. They allegedly thrashed her and later paraded the woman in the village.

When the incident occurred, her husband and son were at home. "We were held at gunpoint at our house and not allowed to move," her husband Bhogi Ram said. "None of the villagers came out to save her," he added.

There was enmity between both sides, which had lately turned even bitterer. The victim's family feared that there could be an attack on them. As a result, the victim had told her husband and son to stay at home. "She told us that I am a woman and no one would dare harm me," said her husband.

"Four of the six accused have been arrested so far", said a police official. The hunt is on for the two remaining absconders--Dharam Singh and Mukesh. Police are interrogating the accused.

Balalpur is located around 55 km from the district headquarters in Morena. The police have registered a case against the accused for assault on woman to outrage her modesty apart from illegal restraining and hurting her. Investigation is on in the case, said police. (The name of the woman has been withheld to protect her identity)
