Amitabh Bachchan has expressed his inability to attend the valedictory function of 10th World Hindi Conference in Bhopal.

Spokesperson of MEA (Ministry of External Affairs) Vikas Swaroop confirmed the development to HT over phone when contacted.

“He (Amitabh Bachchan) developed sudden pain in his tooth. He requires a surgery. He will not be able to speak tomorrow. Hence, he feels there is no point in coming when he is not able to speak,” said Swaroop confirming cancellation of Big B's visit to the mega event.

Living legend Amitabh Bachchan's visit was much awaited specially amongst the youth. There was a rush on Friday for passes for Amitabh's programme.

Bachchan was to address the gathering at the valedictory function. Organisers had said earlier that his address would be motivating for today's generation and a pushing force for Hindi.

Felicitation of 40 people who have contributed for Hindi would be done at the concluding function. Valedictory address would be given by home minister Rajnath Singh while minister for external affairs Sushma Swaraj and chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan would remain present, as per the organisers of the programme.
