A youth fell into a 200-feet deep gorge in village Barjhar into the Choral river while he was taking a selfie on Thursday afternoon. The youth’s body is yet to be recovered.

According to Balwada police station, six friends including the victim, Pawan Jat (23) had come from Satwas, Dewas to Balwada for a picnic. All of them were enjoying and talking pictures when Pawan in his bid to take a good selfie, went too near the edge and fell down.

Rescue teams searched the area but could not find the body and drivers feared that the body might have flowed down the Choral river into Narmada. Due to heavy rains in the area and falling darkness the rescue operation had to be called off.

Khargone SP Kalyan Chakravarthy said that they have called the State Disaster Relief Force to help in the rescue operations. “The boy is a student of Gujarati College. His mobile has been found and the last selfies he took have been recorded in them.”
