A big thank you to team PadMan: Deepika, Ranveer on Akshay Kumar avoiding clash with Padmaavat
Sanjay Leela Bhansali thanked Akshay Kumar at a press conference held on Friday, and now Padmaavat’s lead Deepika Padukone has thanked Akshay on Twitter.
Akshay Kumar and the team of PadMan agreed to postpone the release date of their film from January 25 to February 9 when Sanjay Leela Bhansali requested him to do so. Earlier, PadMan and Padmaavat were releasing on the same date, January 25, and that would have hampered both film’s business prospects.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali thanked Akshay Kumar at a press conference held on Friday, and now Padmaavat’s lead Deepika Padukone has thanked Akshay on Twitter.
During the press conference, Akshay said, “I was rehearsing for my performance at an upcoming awards show when Sanjay Bhansali came to meet me today. He said he is going through a lot of stress and will be in big trouble if Padmaavat will clash with Pad Man. He requested for postponing Pad Man. I have worked with him in two films, and when someone you have worked with requests like this, it is very difficult to say no.”
Akshay’s films Rowdy Rathore (2012) and Gabbar Is Back (2015) were produced by Bhansali.
On Thursday, the Supreme Court paved way for Padmaavat’s pan-India release. It said that film can be released in every Indian state as it is cleared by the Censor Board.
Padmaavat ran into trouble right from the beginning when its sets were vandalised by the Rajput Karni Sena in Jaipur in January, last year. Since then, it’s countering one or the other problem.
With Supreme Court on its side, it’s finally going to hit screens and that may bring some good news for Sanjay Leela Bhansali and team.
