Celebrities and delays seem to go hand-in-hand. At the ongoing International Indian Film Academy awards in Macau, the run up to the main awards — IIFA Rocks, started almost two hours past the scheduled time.
The show, which took place on Friday night, saw celebs such as Madhuri Dixit, Sridevi, Shah Rukh Khan, Arjun Kapoor, Dia Mirza, Prabhjot Devs and Lisa Haydon dressed in their stylish best.
Hosts for the night, actors Boman Irani and Vir Das (dressed as Sardars), kicked off the technical awards, with the 2012 film Barfi! bagging most of them.
Some dynamic acts were performed by Jacqueline Fernandez, Arjun Kapoor, Pritam, Sophie, Sonu Sood, and Dia, themed around the 100 years of Indian cinema.
Anchors Boman Irani and Vir Das took a dig at Saifeena and said, “Love toh woh hota hai jo Saif aur Kareena ne kiya Agent Vinod mein.” The other replied, “Nahi, usse toh flop kehte hai”
During Arjun Kapoor’s act, father Boney Kapoor was seen clapping and cheering, but did not meet him publicly.
Boman and Vir also poked fun at the remake of Himmatwala. They said, “With films like Himmatwala, do you think films need scripts?”
Dia Mirza said her beau Sahil Sangha makes her look good whenever they are together. Sahil said, “No, I am the beast, she is the beauty.”
During the show, Javed Akhtar got offended by Boman and Vir for making fun of a noble cause called Power of 49, meant for the empowerment of women.
