Various directors and scriptwriters in the past have accused actor and producer Aamir Khan of interfering with their work and credits.
But director Abhinay Deo, who is helming Delhi Belly for Aamir Khan’s production company, says he’s non-interfering. “I can’t speak for others, but my experience with Aamir has been one of the most incredible as far as knowledge and being professional is concerned,” says Deo.
Earlier, Aamir took over from writer Amole Gupte as the director of Taare Zameen Par, after which he got embroiled in a credit issue with writer Chetan Bhagat for 3 Idiots, which was reportedly inspired by the author’s previous work, Five Point Someone. Even journalist-turned-director Anusha Rizvi, who directed Peepli Live, had supposedly felt dominated by Aamir’s promotional overdrive when the film was chosen as India’s official entry to the Oscars last year.
However, Deo is unaffected. He says, “Aamir is an accomplished director, an actor first, and an outstanding producer. He doesn’t interfere.”
