Whether directly or indirectly, there’s no escaping Aamir Khan’s influence. The latest to succumb is newcomer Shraddha Das, who’s paired opposite Omi Vaidya in Madhur Bhandarkar’s film,

Dil Toh Baccha Hai Ji

. The actor, still popular as Chatur Ramalingam of

3 Idiots

, passed on his knowledge of a word game that he learnt from Khan, to his heroine in the forthcoming romcom.

Recalling the shooting days, Das says, “It was during the first couple of days of shooting that Omi introduced this word game to me. He said he learnt it from Aamir while filming

.” On being asked who won, she enthuses, “In the beginning, Omi would beat me. But once I got the hang of it, I’d win more often.”

However, it was not only at the word game that the young girl, who was previously seen in the much-acclaimed film

Lahore

last year, had to match her co-star. “Although we’re both one film old, I was very nervous on the first day’s shoot,” she admits, adding, “We have all seen how brilliant Omi was as Chatur in

. Teaming up with him helped me and I’m happy with the way our track has shaped up.”

Glad that her character in her second film is a complete contrast to the one she played in her debut, Das says, “My character was a Pakistani girl. This one in

Dil Toh Baccha Hai Ji

is closer to the kind of person I am in real life. And with Madhur sir to guide me, I knew exactly how I should portray my character. So I didn’t have to work too hard on my performance.”

Das is not perturbed by doubts of being overshadowed by Shazahn Padamsee and Shruti Haasan either. “My role is strong and integral to the storyline. So I don’t have any apprehensions or anxieties. Besides, I didn’t have any scenes with Shazahn or Shruti. We shot separately for the song that features all three of us,” she says, and brushes aside questions of rivalry with the two girls paired with Ajay Devgn and Emraan Hashmi.
