Six years ago, Aamir Khan made his directorial debut with the critically acclaimed box-office hit, Taare Zameen Par (2007). Since then, he has been focussing only on his acting assignments. But now, we’ve been informed that the star has begun working on his next directorial venture.

Aamir is keeping all the details under wraps, but what we’ve found out is that he might kick off this project after the release of Rajkumar Hirani’s P.K. next year.

"He has been quietly working on it, which is why no one knows about it. He has zeroed in on the script, which has been written by a female writer. Even his office staff isn’t aware of this development. But Aamir has had several meetings with the writer," says an industry insider. Aamir is currently occupied with Dhoom:3, after which he will start work on P.K.’s next schedule in 2014.

"It’s an unusual film, but it’s still in the mainstream space. He has started work on it, but his focus right now is only on Dhoom:3," adds the insider.

Incidentally, Aamir has not signed any other acting assignments after P.K.. The only other project he is committed to is the second season of his hit TV show, Satyamev Jayate, which is likely to go on air late next year. While Aamir is in Australia taking dance lessons for his next action film, his spokesperson refused to comment on his plans to direct again.
