Earlier this year, during the General Elections, several celebs had stepped out to cast their vote. Aamir Khan, accompanied by his wife Kiran Rao, was one of them. But now, as the state prepares itself for the upcoming assembly elections on October 15, the 49-year-old actor will be missing in action.
A source close to Aamir reveals, “He’s upset about missing out on voting. Aamir takes his responsibility as a citizen very seriously, but due to prior commitments, he has to fly out of the country.”
Maharashtra elections are around the corner, but this is the first time that Aamir Khan will not be around to cast his vote, which the actor is quite upset about. The source adds, “Aamir had cut his holiday short in order to come back and cast his vote when such a situation had occurred in the past, but that’s not going to be possible this time. He had committed to an event in the US much earlier. After the Maharashtra election dates were announced, Aamir was in a fix as the dates overlapped with that event. He tried rescheduling the dates with the organisers, but sadly, nothing could be done.”

It seems that the marketing team of the event had already announced and advertised the event, so it was too late for anything to change. “Aamir has always encouraged the right to vote and has been part of a lot of campaigns to spread awareness about voting. Naturally, this has really upset him,” the source adds.
When contacted, Aamir’s spokesperson confirmed the news.
