Besides his acting skills, Aamir Khan has a reputation for being a marketing genius of sorts. Now we hear that he has promised to share his expertise and marketing knowledge with Tiger Shroff. However, the rumours of Aamir’s plans to launch Tiger are largely unfounded.

“Everyone, including Aamir, was amused by the reports. Although he isn’t launching Tiger, he is very fond of him, especially since Tiger happens to be his long-time friend Jackie’s son. He has promised all the help that Tiger may need,” says an industry source.

The usually-choosy Aamir has turned into a mentor for Tiger as he prepares for his debut in Sajid Nadiadwala’s yet-untitled film. The film will be directed by Sabbir Khan of Kambakkht Ishq (2009) fame.

Jackie confirms the news, saying, “Aamir has told Tiger that if he needs any help in understanding the script ya picture ki marketing mein koi help chahiye (if he needs any help with the film’s marketing), he’s readily available. Aamir is an old friend, and this is a great gesture.”

So what of the endless rumours about Aamir launching Tiger?

“Jiska jo man mein aata hai, woh likhta hai (people write whatever they want). No one even cross-checks with us. Uska kuch lena dena nahi hai (he has nothing to do with his launch). He is just a friend,” says Jackie.

The grapevine at one point also had it that Mahesh Bhatt (with Aashiqui 2) and Subhash Ghai (who launched Jackie in Hero) were keen to cast him. Later, it was said that Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani might launch him in a Reema Kagti film.

Tiger’s mother Ayesha feels that people are easily swayed by these rumours.

“Since Jackie has worked in the industry for so many years, they (including Aamir) are all friends. But there’s no need to read more into it,” says Ayesha.
