Actor Sanya Malhotra shot to fame after she played the role of Aamir Khan’s on-screen daughter in her debut film Dangal (2016). Even four months after the film released, Sanya feels terrible if anyone calls her lucky to have bagged a role in the path-breaking film. “I feel I’m blessed because I worked really hard. Luck toh nahi hai, kaafi mehnat kari hai iske liye. I’m blessed for the kind of people I got to work with in my first film,” says Sanya.

Actor Sanya Malhotra portrayed the role of wrestler Babita Phogat in Dangal, a biopic on wrestler Mahavir Phogat.

A few days ago, there were reports that the actor wasn’t too satisfied with her performance. On being prodded further, she says, “I’m never happy with my performance. Even for the ballet dance video that I posted on my Instagram, I asked some hundred people before posting it, whether I should do it or not. I didn’t like the choreography that I did. So yes, I’m never content, which I feel is good for me.”

Aamir sent me a letter of two pages that why I am such an important part of the film. It was so sweet of him to do that.”

The actor laughs that the day she gets satisfied with her work, she will head home to Delhi. “I shouldn’t be happy because jis din khush ho gai, I will pack my bags and go back to Delhi and do something else. If you feel satisfied, growth ruk jaati hai,” feels the actor, who has also shared this thought with her mentor Aamir Khan. And how did Aamir respond? “He wrote a two-page letter to me, appreciating my presence in the film.”

However, Sanya agrees that after a film like Dangal, more doors have opened for her in the film industry. “Dangal was the best film to get at the beginning of my career. Honestly, I didn’t expect the film to get this kind of reaction. I thought I will have to start from zero again, but I’m happy to see the adulation that the film has received,” says Sanya.
