Delhi Belly was one of the highlights of 2011 in Bollywood and is currently making its mark at award functions with numerous nominations as well. Director Abhinay Deo is visibly excited, and is already thinking of his next venture.
“I am working on about four ideas of my own. All of them are being scripted. In fact, one of the scripts I really want to make is on its way to being finalised. So, things are looking good,” he says.
Around the release of Delhi Belly, rumours were rife about a rift between Abhinay and producer Aamir Khan due to the latter’s alleged interference. But both the makers had denied all reports that implied so.
Ask Abhinay if he plans to work with Aamir as a producer or actor in future again and he says, “Obviously. It’d be a dream to work with Aamir in any capacity. I am hopeful that it’ll happen soon. Aamir’s plate is full at this point of time, but there are thingsin terms of scripts that I plan, or rather wish, to talk to him about. But that has to wait for a while because the scripting work is on right now,” he says. The Game (2011) director contends that luckily, after Delhi Belly, Aamir and he have shared a great rapport. And he believes that if the right script comes along, it wouldn’t be tough for him to approach Aamir. "If there’s a script that works for him and me, we will surely work together," he says.
As of now, Abhinay is happy soaking in all the accolades coming his way: “I feel content. For one, the film performed well on commercial parameters and that was a fantastic feeling. Secondly, it did critically well too, with awards nominations making it even bigger. What more can a director asks for?”
