Abhishek Bachchan has never been known as a fitness freak, but of late, he has been spending more time in the gym, trying to knock off excess kilos.
Last year, the actor had a similar phase, where he started working out religiously after learning that his Dhoom:3 (2013) co-star, Aamir Khan, was getting fit for the film. He had hired a fitness trainer, Prashant Sawant, to help him. Now, Abhishek has lost even more weight for his next, which will be produced by his home banner and directed by Amit Mehra.
The actor still wears a band — which he got last year — that helps monitor his movements and tells him how many calories he has burnt. “Yes, I wear it every day. I have to look slimmer for my home production, which will begin in November,” he says.
We hear that Abhishek has even cut sweets from his diet completely. “It was a difficult move for him, because he loves his desserts — such as his favourite rasgullas. In fact, he’s become more involved with fitness than he has ever been. Prashant has put him on a special diet, keeping in mind his look in the upcoming film,” says a source close to the actor.
Before he starts shooting, he will go on tour to promote Farah Khan’s film, in which he is seen with Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone, among others. "He wants to be in good shape for that as well, because he’s touring after a long time. Plus, immediately after the tour and the film’s release, he will start work on his home production," adds the source.
Ask Abhishek about this and he says, "Yes, I’ve been working out. It’s like a stress-buster for me."
When we tell him that wife Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is also looking fitter, and we hear it’s because their daughter Aaradhya keeps her on her toes, he laughs, saying, “If you ask any woman who has a kid, they will give you the same answer. She doesn’t work out, and still looks the way she does. And look at us — toiling in the gym and still looking like this."
