After making his directorial debut with a political satire — The President is Coming (2009) — actor Kunal Roy Kapur is now venturing into horror, working with iRock Entertainment, the banner that made Ragini MMS (2011).

Confirming the news, Siddhartha M Jain, CEO of iRock Entertainment reveals, “It’s more of a mystery horror film, not like Ragini MMS or the horror films Vikram Bhatt makes. It’s a fresh genre.”

As yet untitled, the film is set in a haunted hotel and is about a girl and her encounters with supernatural elements. “We are looking for a new girl to play the lead role in the film,” says Jain.

He elaborates, “This film is a combination of the mystery and horror genres. A murder mystery and supernatural elements run on parallel tracks.” Since the banner’s prime focus is the youth, the film will also have some sensual elements.

“As a director, Kunal was constantly fishing for the right script. He has certain aesthetics and he is on the rise in his acting career too. He won’t venture into something shallow. He loved the script and wanted to direct it,” says Jain. The shoot will start in July.
