Vidhu Vinod Chopra's film Ferrari Ki Sawari was premiered here today with BJP leader L. K. Advani in attendance.
As opposed to the grand premieres usually held for Bollywood films, the Ferrari screening at the Delite cinema in old Delhi was a simple affair. Cast members Boman Irani and Sharman Joshi, producer Vidhu and director Rajesh Mapuskar turned up for the screening.
"We are very excited and honoured that Advani ji has come to watch our film and we are eager to know his reaction," Sharman said before entering the movie hall.
When asked about choosing the old theatre instead of a multiplex as the premiere venue, Vidhu said, "Single screen theatres like these are the root of Indian cinema. We have grown up watching films in such places, not multiplexes. So we thought of having the premiere here."
Ferrari Ki Sawari is the heart-warming tale of a single father trying to fulfil his son's dreams. The film shows Sharman's character stealing a Ferrari belonging to Sachin Tendulkar and buzz is that the ace cricketer has made a cameo in the film.
When asked whether Sachin has seen the film, Vidhu said, "Of course, he was the first person to have watched it."
