Nothing Boman Irani does is a career move for him. He feels that after having entered Bollywood at 44, the scope of ‘planning’ is limited. So the actor-photographer stays busy working. He has just finished work on Game and is currently shooting for Farhan Akhtar’s Don 2, after which he will start work on Ferrari Ki Sawari.

“Work for me is a process of discovery and enjoyment. Nothing actually is or should be a career move, otherwise I wouldn’t have reached where I have, wherever that is,” says Irani, who has stunned everyone with his musical talent at the IIFA Awards earlier this year.

Though he feels nothing he does makes for news per se, stage performances have become a regular activity for him. "I’d been performing with Shankar Mahadevan quite regularly. Last we did a show in Dubai. It’s wonderful, but it’s not bomannews," he says.

For now, he is looking forward to the release of his upcoming film, Mirch. “In one of the stories, I am playing a Sindhicharacter, who thinks he in on top of his game. But then his routine married life gets a bit of a jolt,” says Irani, who is glad to be part of a female centric film. “Not many films are made with women in the focus. Fashion, I think, was the last that comes to mind. I like to work with many kinds of characters and styles of cinema.”

A strict follower of method acting, Irani got himself someone to help him become more Sindhi’for Mirch. “For Lage Rao Munnabhai, I had two sardars sitting on the set. Raju (Rajkumar Hirani) would laugh and say, ‘You have three directors now’; it’s wonderful how you can have someone observe you from the viewers point of view.”
