Back in 2009, she was felicitated with the Officer Dan Ordre des Arts et des Lettres (officer of the order of arts and letters) by the French government. But at that time, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan refused to accept the second highest civilian French honour because her father Krishnaraj Rai was unwell.

Last year, Ash couldn’t receive the honour since the French government postponed the investiture ceremony in deference to the

victims of the Mumbai bomb blasts. Now finally, the Bachchan bahu will be honoured on her birthday (on November 1) in the city.

What’s more, Ash’s entire family, including in-laws Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan, hubby Abhishek and parents will be present there to cheer her on.

“Since it’s Ash’s birthday, all the family members have kept themselves free for attending the ceremony. The honour has been evading her for the past three years, so everyone wants to make it very special for her this time around,” says an industry insider.

Before Ash, others who have been honoured with the award include Shah Rukh Khan and Hollywood biggies George Clooney and Meryl Streep.

“Ash is happy about the fact that she happens to be the youngest recipient. It’s going to be a very emotional moment for her,” adds the insider.

Interestingly, her father-in-law Amitabh Bachchan has been the recipient of the only higher French civilan honour, the Légion d'honneur, has already been received by besides late filmmaker Satyajit Ray and Pandit Ravi Shankar. Despite repeated attempts, the actor couldn’t be reached for a comment.
