Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s birthday on Wednesday was marked by low-key celebrations. The actor, never the one to go for glitzy bashes, spent the day with her family. She lost her father, Krishnaraj Rai, earlier this year and had decided to not celebrate her birthday.
However, husband Abhishek and daughter Aaradhya made sure her day was special, according to a Mid-Day report. They ordered her favourite cake and the family came together in the evening. Earlier in the day, Aishwarya visited Siddhivinayak temple with Aaradhya and mother Vrinda. She turned 44 on Wednesday.

Aishwarya makes sure to visit the temple on special occasions. She is seen there with husband Abhishek on their wedding anniversary as well as Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations.
Rai usually marks her birthday by charity work. “Last year, she had sponsored the surgeries of 100 children with cleft palate. This year, she will feed underprivileged children,” a source told the tabloid.
In October, Amitabh Bachchan also skipped his birthday celebration and chose to spend quiet time with family in Maldives. Speaking about the decision, he had said, “After 75 years, you run away from it all .. there is apprehension and embarrassment of celebration .. of what expression to be worn and where .. to what must there be celebration of gift .. and the list of guests to be in proper shades of etiquette .. the care and hospitality, the personal touch of host formality, the … Many objects and lists and meetings later .. it merely succumbs to the ultimate argument .. all this for getting a year closer to the final closure.”
