Akshay Kumar has adopted retro fashion for real to promote his Diwali release, Vipul Shah’s
, with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.
It’s learnt that from today, wherever the actor goes, whether it’s for shooting, dubbing, meetings, promotional events, parties, or even private outings with wife Twinkle and son Aarav, he will be sporting the fashion statement of the 1970s.
Old is gold
Kumar asked designer Shabina Khan to create a full-fledged wardrobe for him, keeping the colourful decade in mind, that he can delve into till Action Replayy opens in cinemas on November 5.
Khan confirms the news and says, “I was taken aback when Akshay called me to say that he wanted retro clothes in bulk. He usually calls only for the latest fashions. But it’s great that he’s going to be hyping a new style over the next two months.”
Kumar’s revamped wardrobe comprises bell-bottoms, big-collared shirts, denims, jackets, with the appropriate accessories.
Khan says that she has given Kumar enough outfits to last him two months without him needing to repeat any. Producer-director Vipul Shah says his hero sent him a shockwave in the middle of the night: “I was stunned when Akshay told me that he’d be wearing only retro style outfits till November. He’s so passionate about every film he does. His enthusiasm is an asset for any filmmaker.”
