Earlier this month, reports were doing the rounds that Akshay Kumar was teaming up with director Omung Kumar for his next film, a psychological thriller titled Five, in which the star would play five different characters. The movie was expected to go on the floors in March next year. But apparently, Akshay was never part of the film.
“It’s true that Akshay and Omung had discussed the project at length, but he isn’t able to give the dates that Omung needs,” a source says. Akshay is currently shooting for his next film, which is a sequel to Jolly LLB (2013). Later, he will also be working on film-maker Neeraj Pandey’s next two ventures — Crack, which Neeraj will be directing, and Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, which he will be producing. “So, in 2017, Akshay’s schedule is packed for almost the entire year,” the source adds.
When contacted, Akshay confirmed the news, saying, “I am not doing Five. I had dates issues,” he says. Apparently, Omung is now going ahead with the film with a new cast. Rumours are also rife that Akshay has signed Rohit Shetty’s next production. The untitled film will be helmed by director Priyadarshan, but the star couldn’t be reached to confirm this latest development.
