Till date, Namastey London (2007) and Singh Is Kinng (2008) stand as Akshay Kumar’s biggest hits. So naturally, tinsel town was abuzz when talks of their sequels started doing the rounds. But a few weeks ago, it was reported that filmmaker Vipul Shah and Akki were at odds over the sequels because Shah was keener to release Namastey London 2 before the Singh is Kinng sequel.
But Akshay laughs over the stories. “Nothing like that has happened. Honestly, I don’t even have a script for the sequel. If I don’t have a good script, there’s no use making the film. Whenever I make one, I am sure it will be well received. But unless I get a good script, I won’t make it,” he says.
And what about Namastey London 2? “There’s nothing on that front either. Such reports will keep coming in. What can one do? As per reports, every hero has 10-12 films on floors. In reality though, they only have one or two films in hand. The poor guy is struggling, but in the market, he is loaded with 10-12 films,” he says with a laugh.
Apparently, Akshay, along with Ajay Devgn, plans to co-produce a remake of the 2003 Hollywood hit Bad Boys 2 too. “Till now, nothing concrete has worked out. If something works out, people will get to know even before we speak about it,” says Akshay, who is also waiting for Milan Luthria’s Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai 2 to start in March. “I haven’t had an opportunity to star as an underworld don till now. It’s after a long time that I’m doing an intense love story with action as the backdrop,” he says.
