Akshay Kumar-starrer Boss has scored well in single screens, according to film analyst Taran Adarsh.
Early estimates suggested that the Anthony D'Souza's latest directorial venture averaged around Rs 15 crore on Wednesday.
Boss had a midweek release, aiming to cash-in on the Eid holiday. However, the business the multiplexes is not impressive despite a positive word of mouth. The film opened to 75%-80% occupancy across all nationwide territories. Not just the masses but even the multiplex audiences have been flocking the theaters.
Ajit Andhare (COO, Viacom 18 Motion Pictures) said "This film is for the masses, while we have a whole lot of urban slick heroes, there is always room for the desi hero. In a way this film is revisiting the roots, by making cinema that our industry is so known for."
The collections are likely to take a dip on Thursday (till Friday noon/evening when the weekend starts again), and then grow over the weekend (Friday evening to Sunday), since the word of mouth is in favour of the film.
The India-Australia cricket match may have played the spoilsport for Wednesday.
