Bollywood star Akshay Kumar has shared the first poster of Naam Shabana on Twitter in which Pink star Taapsee Pannu is front and centre, all geared up for a chase as the rest of the cast floats around her.
Akshay Kumar, who had previously unveiled the film’s first look, took to Twitter to share the poster, “Shabana reminds me of a quote, ‘The only time a woman is helpless is when her nail polish is drying!’Sharing the #NaamShabanaPoster, more soon.’”
The subtle reference to Akshay’s thriller Baby further indicates a connection between the 2015 film and Naam Shabana, which is supposed to be a prequel.
Directed by Neeraj Pandey, who has written Naam Shabana, the widely-acclaimed Baby was based on daredevil undercover agents taking on terrorists. Naam Shabana is an origin story about Taapsee’s character.
Taapsee’s performance was highly appreciated in her previous film Pink, and the look and feel of the Naam Shabana poster hints at a similarly gritty plot, and continues the refreshing trend of featuring female leads in Bollywood.
The trailer of the movie is all set to be unveiled on February 10 and the film is slated to hit theatres on March 31.
Directed by Shivam Nair, Naam Shabana also features critically acclaimed actor Manoj Bajpayee and southern star Prithviraj in pivotal roles. The film has been shot in Mumbai and in Malaysia.
