On Monday night, the entire cast and crew of Ghanchakkar celebrated the film’s completion at a suburban lounge. Emraan Hashmi made an appearance, while Vidya Balan arrived with her husband and UTV head honcho, Siddharth Roy Kapur. The director of the UTV Motion Pictures’ film, Rajkumar Gupta, was also seen at the event along with producer Ronnie Screwvala. However, the man of the evening turned out to be singer Altaf Raja, who is making a comeback with the song ‘Jholuram’ in the film.
“As the evening progressed, the team began requesting Altaf to sing a few lines of the song. Eventually, when he agreed to sing the peppy number, Emraan
and Vidya joined in too,” says a source from the unit. In the film, the track has been picturised on Emraan. He plays the role of a thief, who specialises in breaking into vaults.
The source adds, “Emraan and Vidya’s participation got everyone in the mood. The party went on till late.”
Though, so far, Altaf has only recorded one song for the film, the makers plan to rope him in for another number too. “The response to ‘Jholuram’ has been quite positive, so they are considering it,” says the source.
When contacted, Manish Hariprasad, creative director, studios, Disney UTV confirms the news, saying, “Altaf is making his comeback with Ghanchakkar, and it was great to see him sing at the party. It was amazing to have Emraan and Vidya join him too.”
