Akshay Kumar last worked with Amitabh Bachchan in director Rajkumar Santoshi’s little known film, Family: Ties Of Blood (2006). Before that, they played father-son in Vipul Shah’s Waqt (2005). Now, seven years later, Big B has been roped in to record an introductory voiceover for Akshay’s upcoming action film.

An insider reveals that the lead actor’s entry in the Anthony D’Souza’s Boss is preceded by a massive build-up. Bachchan’s voice will be used for that. "He will introduce Akshay’s character in the movie,” says the source, adding that the makers always had the superstar’s name in mind for this part. "It is important because this voiceover sets the tone for the entire movie."

When contacted, producer Ashwin Varde confirms the development. He further reveals that Bachchan accepted the offer as soon as he heard the script. “I have known Mr Bachchan for years because of my journalism background. But more importantly, I have grown up on his films. He’s probably the reason I am in this business today. When I called him and requested him to be part of the film, he agreed. It’s a dream come true — to have a legend like him giving an introduction to the film,” says Ashwin.

Much to the makers’ surprise, the actor finished recording the entire voiceover in all of 30 minutes. Although the two actors will not be seen sharing screen space, Akshay is thrilled about being associated with the iconic star.

"It’s an honour and a privilege to have a legend like Amitabh Bachchan introduce my character. I have been his biggest fan ever since I was a child, and I have even had the pleasure of working with him. He is an institution in himself," adds Akshay.
