Playing an angry young man in the 1970s — a character that Amitabh Bachchan immortalised through a series of films — can be daunting for any young actor. But Ram Charan Teja, who plays the same role in the Zanjeer (1973) remake has received encouragement from none other than Bachchan himself.

“Ram Charan is a very proficient actor and I am sure he will do well,” says the veteran actor about Chiranjeevi’s son, who plays the lead.

The Apoorva Lakhia film will hit the theatres on September 6. Ask Bachchan about what he is looking forward to the most from the movie and he nonchalantly says, “The rights are with Prakash Mehra’s family and they wanted to make it, so…”

Priyanka Chopra will play the female lead in the film, while Sanjay Dutt will reprise the character of Sher Khan that was played by late actor Pran in the original. Recently, the venture was also in legal trouble with regard to the royalties of the script that writer duo Salim Khan and Javed Akhtar penned for the original.
