He is a veteran in all respects, and now three legends are set to come together to commemorate his exemplary work. R Balki, whose upcoming film, Shamitabh, is music composer Ilaiyaraaja’s 1,000th film, is organising an event for him, which will be attended by senior actors like Amitabh Bachchan, Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan.

Ilaiyaraaja, who has completed almost four decades in the Indian film industry, was also associated with Balki’s previous films, Cheeni Kum (2007), and Paa (2009).

A source close to the director says, "The icing on the cake is that two south legends, Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan, have agreed to be part of the celebration, and will be present in Mumbai for the occasion next week."

Not just that, the event will see some special performances as well. "This celebration would be all the more special as Bachchan and Dhanush will be performing together. Bachchan, who has sung for the film, will be singing the same song at the event," adds the source.

When contacted, Balki confirmed the news.
