Film-maker Anurag Kashyap’s

Bombay Velvet

was initially scheduled to release this year. However, the film was later postponed to May 2015.

This led to rumours that one of the reasons for the delay was that certain portions needed to be reshot. Now, industry insiders claim that the film has overshot the original budget by quite a margin. And that this has forced the makers to drop plans of filming parts of the movie again.

"The film requires heavy VFX in the post-production, so the makers are opting to re-edit portions rather than reshooting them," says the source. Some believe the film, with Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma in the lead, was also too long (3 hours and 20 minutes). Apparently, the runtime is now being cut down as well.

The production studio, when contacted, confirmed that there was no shoot scheduled to take place, apart from a song. "The number is a promotional video, which will be filmed before the movie’s release," says an insider.

Anurag Kashyap says, "The film is edited, locked and in post-production. The length was never 3 hours and 20 minutes. All the rumour-mongers can have a field day creating conspiracy theories. It does not matter to us."
