Director of Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana, Sameer Sharma, who is still reeling from the success of his directorial debut, has already got a new project to work on. Anurag Kashyap has asked Sameer to direct another comedy titled, Jawani Janeman, which Anurag had apparently written along with Vasan Bala, director of Peddlers (2012), keeping Sameer in mind. “It is a comedy script that Anurag has written specially for me, so I’m taking the film very seriously,” reveals Sameer.
Giving a sneak preview of the film, Sameer says, “It is story based on a fan club in Bhopal and there is a femme fatale involved.” The director is yet to finalise the cast of the film, but he is more than eager to work yet again with Kunal Kapoor and Huma Qureshi, the main leads of his recent film. “I would love to work with Kunal and Huma again. For me, they are the real stars of the film,” says Sameer, who has gained confidence to make more content driven films after the success of his directorial debut and is working on other story ideas as well.
Ask him about the success of his debut film, which has being critically appreciated and raking in box-office returns, and the director says, “Luv Shuv is just a Rs 3 crore film with not a very big star cast has already got more than Rs 7 crore returns. It’s very heart warming.” Before Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana, Sameer wrote films like Bhoot (2003) and the screenplay for Swades (2004) and additional dialogue for F.A.L.T.U (2006).
