After being roped in for Anurag Kashyap’s Bombay Velvet (BV), actor Raveena Tandon has now signed another movie with the filmmaker.
Ask her about this news and she says, “Anurag and I go back a long way. He was the writer of Shool (1999), which I starred in. We’ve been friends since then and he always wanted me to do something for him.”
The actor’s next untitled project is part of a two-film deal with Anurag. “There’s not much that I can reveal at this moment, but I have an important role in the second film,” she says.
In BV, Raveena plays the part of a jazz singer. “That’s what really excited me. Plus, it will be all the more fun because Karan (Johar,
filmmaker) is playing the villain,” reveals the actor.. Explaining why she doesn’t do too many films these days, she says, “I feel the term ‘comeback’ is over—hyped. And I think it puts a lot of pressure on anyone who wants to work. We (actors of her generation) don’t need to prove ourselves now.”
Raveena, who will start shooting for BV in February, is also doing a Telugu film with Mohan Babu. “It is a big film there, that takes up 10 to 15 days in a month. If I go on signing films, I’ll have no time for my kids and family. They are my first priority. I’m not in the rat race to prove myself anymore. I’ve been there and done that.”
