With her debut film Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi (2008), followed by box-office hits such as PK (2014) and Sultan (2016), actor Anushka Sharma is among those few leading ladies in the film industry who’s been fortunate to share screen space with all three Khans of Bollywood. And now the actor has teamed up with Punjabi actor Diljit Dosanjh of Udta Punjab (2016) fame in her next production, Phillauri. Earlier, she had shared screen space with newer actors of her generation including Ranveer Singh, Sushant Singh Rajput, Imran Khan among others.
About the experience of working with senior actors and the young breed, Anushka says, “Of course, there’s a difference in terms of their approach towards acting, which is different in any case for all actors and their performance. Khans come with a lot more experience, so you can always find something new to learn from them and their life experiences – both personal and professional. Being on a movie set has somehow become their second nature.”
“We are still consciously coming to terms with what we do but these senior actors have been there for so long that they just define us.”
The 28-year-old adds that the fresh lot of actors is still taking time to adjust to the ways of the industry and have a long way to go to match up to the standards set by Khans. “We are still consciously coming to terms with what we do, but these senior actors have been there for so long, that they just define us. They are always on this auto plot mode in terms of how the functioning happens while shooting for a film. They just know what happens in between shots. They have managed to achieve a sense of calmness. I guess we, young actors, are still kind of always living on the edge.”
Talking about how each actor is unique, Anushka feels each one of them have a different way of approaching films with their acting style. “Like with directors, we actors have to adjust to the different style in which we portray a given character, similarly we have to have that synergy with the roles that we and our co-star play.”
Meanwhile, the actor who has been linked with cricketer Virat Kohli for a long time now, took to social media and lashed out at ‘bogus claims’ about her rumoured beau producing her next film. Expressing her sheer displeasure, she wrote, “I am more than capable of producing and promoting my own films. By making such bogus claims and validating this rubbish by your so-called ‘source’, not only are you disrespecting me and the hard work I have put in over the years to be where I am, but also, all the people who have worked on this film.”
