Arjun Rampal has had to do a lot of homework for his character in the upcoming film Inkaar. Sources from the industry reveal that director Sudhir Mishra pushed the actor to flirt with his co-star Chitrangada Singh, so that he was better prepared for the role.
“Sudhir asked Arjun to spontaneously flirt with her to develop a comfort level,” says an insider from the production house.
“The two were made to hang out and drive around town when they were not shooting. Arjun was even directed to take Chitrangada out on a few dates in Mumbai, and then later Bangkok, where the crew also shot for some time,” adds the source.
Inkaar deals with the protagonist’s tussle between his professional and personal life. Arjun essays the role of a typical elitist ad man from South Mumbai, while Chitrangada plays the part of a small-town girl, who eventually makes it big in Mumbai. From varied backgrounds, the two characters develop feelings for each other on a work-related trip.
“During that time, they get really close and attain a certain comfort level. Mishra wants to capture that accurately on screen, which is why Arjun was subjected to all these tasks,” says the source.
The Viacom 18 film is set to hit theatres on January 18 next year.
