Arjun Kapoor is not someone who loses sleep over others’ success. The actor, who’s known to share a cordial relationship with his contemporaries Ranbir Kapoor, Varun Dhawan and Ranveer Singh, just wants projects that will yield good results.
“It’s easy to look at an actor’s success last Friday and feel insecure, but you’ve to look at his or her journey. You can’t think why someone’s film worked and mine did not. I don’t do films to outdo others. Competition is healthy, and we all have to consolidate our position,” says the 31-year-old.
“You get an opportunity, you grab it. I got to do different kind of films. I got a chance to do an English film, I did it. A chance to do TV, and I had an amazing experience. The risk, challenges and opportunities I’ve grabbed paid off well,” adds Arjun, who has done films like Ishaqzaade (2012), Aurangzeb (2013), 2 States (2014), Tevar (2015) and Ki & Ka, this year.
Shift topic to his views on recent controversies on comments made by Bollywood biggies — Salman Khan’s rape analogy, Irrfan Khan’s views on Qurbaani, and Aamir Khan comparing himself to a waiter — and Arjun likes to reserve his opinion. “Who am I to comment on it? They have their mindset and we should respect whoever has said whatever they have,” he says.
