Arjun Rampal will start shooting for Heroine on November 26, his 39th birthday. The actor is really excited that the movie that was stalled after just six days of shooting, following the announcement that lead actor Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was pregnant, is being revived. First choice, Kareena Kapoor, who had to drop out earlier following date problems, has returned to play the title role. Later in the evening, he’ll host a party for a few close friends.
“Madhur (director Bhandarkar) has written a hard-hitting script, and I’m glad the film is being restarted with Kareena coming board. We’d worked together in We Are Family (2010) earlier and she’s a good friend,” smiles Arjun, who plays a superstar in the film that was launched in May at the Cannes Film Festival.
Quiz him on whether he’s expecting a second National Award after the Best Supporting Actor win for Rock On!! (2008), given that Madhur’s films have bagged National Awards for several actors, from Tabu (Chandni Bar, 2001) and Konkona Sen Sharma (Page 3, 2005) to Priyanka Chopra and Kangna Ranaut (Fashion, 2008) and Arjun, who’s been busy canning episodes of his just-launched TV talk show, Love 2 Hate You, says, “I’m not even thinking about awards at this stage.
The last time too, I was caught unawares by a congratulatory call. It was such a thrill to see my name on the ticker when I switched on the TV to confirm. If it ever happens again, I’d want it to be exactly the same way… Out of the blue.”
