Bollywood actor Arshad Warsi, who won’t be seen in the sequel to his 2013 hit Jolly LLB, has hinted at the possibility of a third Ishqiya film.
A DNA report on Monday said that filmmaker Abhishek Chaubey has finalised the script for another film in the Ishqiya franchise. “Yes, we are in talks. Hopefully, Ishqiya 3 will be happening soon. Sometime next year, maybe,” it quoted Arshad as saying.
Ishqiya came out in 2010, and featured Naseeruddin Shah, Arshad and Vidya Balan in leading roles. It received wide critical acclaim, leading to a second film, Dedh Ishqiya in 2014. This one did not match up to the hype of the first movie even though It starred Madhuri Dixit and Huma Qureshi opposite Arshad and Naseer from the original film.
Arshad currently has three sequels on his plate -- Golmaal 4, which begins shooting this December, Total Dhamaal that begins in 2017, and Rajkumar Hirani’s Munnabhai 3, with which Arshad returns as ‘Circuit’.
Jolly LLB 2, that went to floors in July, will see Akshay Kumar stepping into the shoes of Arshad, but the Munnabhai MBBS star claims he will make a guest appearance. The movie will be directed by Subhash Kapoor.
Hindustan Times could not independently verify the report.
