Experimenting with unusual storylines, or characters, has never been Bollywood’s forte, but the industry seems to have acquired a new taste for coming out of its comfort zone and taking risks of late.
After a string of unusual castings in the recent past, here’s another one that’s piqued our interest: Ayushmann Khurrana, Kriti Sanon and Rajkumar Rao, together for the first time, in Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari’s Bareily Ki Barfi.
Tiwari, known best for Nil Battey Sannata, helms the romantic comedy set in Uttar Pradesh.
The film has Ayushmann playing a printing press owner and Rajkumar is an author. Kriti plays a ‘liberated, forward-thinking’ girl from UP.
Ayushmann recently completed a successful tour of the US and Canada. The actor also came out with a new T-Series single Yahin Hoon Main featuring his Vicky Donor co-star, Yami Gautam.
Kriti recently wrapped up a schedule of Dinesh Vijan’s Raabta with Sushant Singh Rajput in Mauritius.
Rajkumar Rao who was last seen in Aligarh, has completed Ramesh Sippy’s Shimla Mirchi, Vikramaditya Motwane’s next and Amit Masurkar’s Newton.
Bareily Ki Barfi is produced by Junglee Pictures and BR Studio.
