Punjabi guy Ayushmann Khurrana is learning multiple regional languages — Marathi, Bengali and Bhojpuri — for his three upcoming films. He says, "I think am good with languages."

Ayushmann Khurrana played an archetypal Punjabi boy from Delhi in his first film, Vicky Donor (2012). His last release, too, saw him play a north Indian lad. But now, the Chandigarh boy is learning multiple languages — Marathi, Bengali and Bhojpuri — for his three upcoming films.

"I think it is quite difficult. In Sharat Katariya’s film, I have to speak a lot of Bhojpuri, and in Vibhu’s (Puri) next, I have to speak a lot of Marathi. They are two completely different languages," says Ayushmann.

Since he is shooting for both films concurrently, every time the actor gets a break from the first film, he meets the director of the second to brush up his Marathi. And vice versa.

And that’s not all. Ayushmann will soon start preparing for his role in John Abraham’s film that revolves around football. A major part of his training will be to learn Bengali. "I have to work on my Bengali. So, yes, I am ready for another ‘foreign’ language (laughs). For this film, I also have to practise more football and work hard on my body, since I lost a lot of weight for Sharat’s film," he says.

The actor says that he has a flair for languages, which is why he’s able to juggle three vernaculars. "I think am good with languages, which is a plus. I’ve been in Mumbai for five years now and I understand Marathi very well. If you ask me, I have a thing for languages," says Ayushmann.
