From dancing on Kala Chashma from their upcoming film, Baar Baar Dekho, to singing the classic track that inspired the film’s title, actors Sidharth Malhotra and Katrina Kaif turned up the fun quotient when they visited HT City to meet the winners of Stars In The City contest on Thursday. Joined by director Nitya Mehra, Sid and Kat also spilled some beans about what the team has been up to while in Delhi.
Visiting the Capital for last leg of promotions, Delhi-boy Sidharth was all excited to take his co-star Katrina and rest of the team around the city. “I took the entire team to my place in South Delhi and they met my family. We loved the yummy snacks, which we don’t get in Mumbai. There’s nothing like Punjabi food, Punjabi hospitality and now we have an amazing Punjabi track also with us, which has pushed all the North Indians and Punjabis in Bollywood,” said Sid.
Answering a question by an HT City Stars in the City winner, Sid went on to share his love for Delhi. “Not many people know that I used to play for Delhi rugby team called ‘Delhi Hurricane. I love outdoor sports. I was also a basketball player in my school.”
Asked by a fan to share his fitness mantra, there was more of sports coming from the actor. “Don’t bother about your visual appearance. A healthy, energetic body with strong muscles and bones minus any injury is what I concentrate on. And then sports keep you fit and happier. It teaches you everything about life – winning, losing, competitiveness, team spirit - every possible emotion.”
Sidharth plays a math professor in the film who is introvert and obsessed by his work. “My character is about a man who has a childhood girlfriend but is very scared of committing to her. I am sure many boys can relate to this where we don’t want to settle down so early and concentrate more on our career than our love life. So he’s like any other Delhi boy,” added the actor.
Talking more on the film and what propelled her to choose a script based on time travel, , director Nitya Mehra, who has been mentoed by Farhan Akhtar, said, “I thought this script to be very intriguing and new. It’s a love story and a high concept. I remember how Katrina got so emotionally moved after the narration while Sid was busy eating all the time.”
Besides the plot, the remixed version of Kala Chasma song is indeed creating history. It indeed turned out to be the high point when Katrina and Sidharth came on stage and did the signature steps from the song. Sharing the secret of her gorgeous looks in the song, Kat shared, “After Chikni Chameli and Kala Chasma, I think Karan Johar is the secret behind it. It’s his magic touch that does the trick.”
On being asked by an HT reader about what keeps her going and how she deals with the hardships, Katrina was quick to share her life beliefs. “You have to have a goal every day when you wake up. Have focus and an idea. My work drives me and I have the desire to give better and do better films.”
She goes on to add, “Universe makes everything happen for a reason. I am a big believer of God. So when you take that stress off your shoulders that your life is not just in your hands and there’s someone else is looking after you, you can stay strong. Whatever religion you may follow, in hard times, only your attitude matters. Remain positive and don’t become angry or bitter.” Now these were some heavy wise words.
