Alia Bhatt has said that upcoming romantic-comedy Badrinath Ki Dulhania is not a sequel to the 2014 hit Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania but is definitely a part of the franchise. To make it clearer for you, the relationship between the two films will be much like Munnabhai MBBS and Lage Raho Munnabhai.

Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania, also starring Varun Dhawan, was an endearing love story between a young feisty Ambala girl and a carefree Delhi boy.

Alia says while Badrinath Ki Dulhania is also a love story, the setting and characters are different from those in the first movie.

“The film is not a sequel, it’s not a continuation. It’s a franchise. It’s a different story, it has another person and dulhania with a common thread that’s a love story,” Alia told PTI in an interview.
