It’s official: Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, 37, will play the leading lady in Madhur Bhandarkar’s ambitious venture, Heroine. The much-anticipated film, that was waiting for a leading lady, has ultimately fallen into Aishwarya’s kitty. “Yes, it’s on. But we will talk about it at Cannes,” says Bachchan, who will be walking the red carpet at the French film festival on May 13.
Bhandarkar, too, confirms Ash’s claims. “I am really happy that finally everything is set. I have structured the script keeping Ash in mind. It is one film that every actor would want to do, and I am glad Ash agreed to do it. And we will start shooting next month,” says the 42-year-old filmmaker.
He clears the air about not casting Kareena Kapoor in the film, even though it was reported so initially . “I feel it is jinxed for me to think of Kareena doing any of my films, as due to some or the other reason, it never materialises. She was my first choice for Page 3 and Fashion but even that never happened.”
Heroine will go on floors next month and is expected to hit theatres next year.
