Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt released the first trailer of his comeback film, Bhoomi, Thursday afternoon and is already impressing fans. It already has more than 7,000 YouTube hits within minutes of the trailer release. Ranbir Kapoor was also present at the trailer launch in Mumbai.

Bhoomi is a revenge drama that tells the story of a father and a daughter. Sanjay plays the father while Aditi Rao Hydari essays the role of his daughter in the film. Shekhar Suman will also be seen playing Sanjay’s friend. Sharad Kelkar and TV actor Sidhant Gupta also feature in Bhoomi.

The trailer shows Sanjay and Aditi who share a strong bond but a tragic turn of events gives a traumatic twist to their lives. At almost three minutes, the video may seem slightly lengthy but brings forth the anger and the love that a hurt father nurtures. Some of the scenes are high on melodrama and cliched Bollywood dialogues but overall, the trailer is heart-wrenching.

The Vaastav star released the film on his daughter Trisha’s birthday that falls on August 10. Bhoomi marks Sanjay’s return to the silver screen after serving his jail term. He was last seen in Aamir Khan-Anushka Sharma-starrer PK (2014).

“Sanjay has given his best performance till date,” Omung had earlier said.

Bhoomi, that was supposed to hit theatres on August 4 was shifted to a September 22 release to avoid a clash with Aamir Khan-Zaira Wasim-starrer Secret Superstar.
