Looks like Amitabh Bachchan is set to work with a completely new set of co-stars – Tamil actor Dhanush, who made his Bollywood debut with Raanjhanaa (2013), and Akshara Haasan, who’s actor Kamal Haasan’s younger daughter. Reportedly, the Bollywood icon will work alongside the fresh faces in director R Balki’s (of Paa and Cheeni Kum fame) next.
Although Balki maintains a stoic silence about his film, Big B mentioned his film on his blog on November 14, writing: “…and later of course to get on with the produce of film and TV serial ... films with Balki, and Bhootnath Returns, and Shoojit’s film and Vinod Chopra’s serial (sic).”
At one point, Shah Rukh Khan’s name was also doing the rounds for a role in the film, but eventually Big B and Dhanush were finalised. “The movie is likely to hit the floor early next year and release towards the end of 2014,” says a source close to the film. Despite repeated attempts, Balki remained unavailable for comment.
Apparently, Akshara has been approached earlier by filmmakers, but she didn’t take up any of the offers. For Balki’s film though, she is believed to have grabbed the opportuntiy. The first-time actor has assisted Rahul Dholakia and also her father on this year’s much-hyped film, Vishwaroopam.
