Big B to Kangana, fake accounts trouble stars on social media

While many actors like sharing their thoughts and pictures on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram, some of them are also tired of fake profiles that have cropped up in their names, and warn their fans against them

Amitabh Bachchan

Actor Amitabh Bachchan, who is very active on social media platforms, recently asked his fans to ­unfollow fake twitter accounts by his name. "CAUTION: @SrBachchanc... Notice the ‘c’ added... This is a FAKE account, not done by me... Please refrain from communicating with it (sic)," Bachchan ­posted on Twitter a few days back.

Kangana Ranaut

Although there are multiple ­profiles of actor Kangana Ranaut on Twitter and Facebook, the actor who was last seen in Tanu Weds Manu Returns has always stayed away from social media platforms. "I am not on Facebook or Twitter. I don’t understand the ­equation on social networking sites. I am not a celebrity in my mind and can never be one. I believe I am an artist, not a celeb," the actor said earlier.

Yami Gautam

Actor Yami Gautam, who is currently shooting her upcoming film alongside Pulkit Samrat, has multiple accounts of her on Twitter. She posted screen grabs of two accounts tagging them as fake recently. "These are fake accounts guys!" she captioned it. "I was shocked to see these fake profiles on Twitter. I think it is important to be aware of these accounts," she says.

Mahira Khan

Pakistani actor Mahira Khan, who will be making her Bollywood debut in a Rahul Dholakia’s directorial ­alongside actor Shah Rukh Khan, recently warned her fans regarding fake Instagram accounts. "All Instagram accounts which go by my name and claim to be official are fake. Please report," she tweeted ­recently.

Amitabh Bhattacharya

Lyricist Amitabh Bhattacharya, who is not on Twitter, had to warn his fans about fake profiles of him through composer-singer Vishal Dadlani’s account. "This fake account, @MainAmitabh is writing to ppl in the film business, pretending to be Amitabh Bhattacharya. Block!’…Just got a text from Amitabh Bhattacharya, the lyricist. He’s being impersonated on twitter by A FAKE called @MainAmitabh. Unfollow/block (sic)," Vishal posted.
